Prepared For The Battle

As I have mentioned before on this blog Im passionate about football (see my Passion & Desire Post) and although I still occasionally play a little (or try) most my fix now comes from watching my 8 yr old son or my local team Yeovil Town play.
My son trains once a week at the Yeovil Town Community Trust Development Centre and I occasionally help out by providing photography to aid promotion of the great work that the trust does in the community.
Last week I spent a day at the club prior to the teams local derby with Exeter City F.C to document the trusts Match Day Experience.
Most my work is normally slow paced and highly planned which was the opposite of this day’s work but none the less enjoyable as it combined my two passions of photography and football.
The match ended as a 2-2 draw with a good crowd providing a great atmosphere.

Underwater Photography Exhibit Debuts on Artificial Reef Off Key West

A unique way to Exhibit your Photography Project !

One Year after Andreas Frankes visit to the Vandenberg his images of the wreck were filled with charming stories and now it is high time to exhibit them. No better place as the place where the project began.

Since August 4th 2011 divers can benefit from a very special experience and find a package of 12 images placed on the hulk of the artificial reef General Hoyt S. Vandenberg located 100 feet below sealevel and approximately seven miles south of Key West.

Travel Photography Portfolio, New Images From Menorca Spain

Following my recent trip to the beautiful island of Menorca, I have finally finished the post-production  and added the images to my travel photography portfolio

The image here was captured at Santo Tomas which is located on the south of the island an area that provided many stunning locations to explore and shoot.

iPhone Photography, A Creative Workout

I’ve mentioned before on my Photography Training site that I’m a big fan of shooting images on my iPhone. There was a time when I’d never leave the house without a camera but over the years my style of photography has changed somewhat and most of what I shoot these days is less spontaneous and much more highly planned. Theabove however changed with the iPhone and I found myself shooting more and more freely like I did when I first discovered photography. I believe there are several reasons for my love of shooting on the iPhone and it definitely has nothing to do with the awesome quality or versatility which it lacks in abundance !

For starters it’s a challenge to shoot with as there is no control over aperture, shutter and little exposure or focus control so you are on a level playing ground with everyone else who shoots with it. This basically means you only have your eye to reply on for capturing something visually interesting & creative which is also another challenge in itself as there is no view finder. Secondly the above means you are released from any technical control and free just to enjoy capturing everything and anything without fear that the image is exposed correctly or has camera shake as there is little you can do to adjust it anyway. So in short you give yourself permission to become an amateur again and go wild. None of this means I don’t ever take out any of my more pro level cameras when out and about but for most day to day off the hip shooting the iPhone is always in my pocket.

In short using the iPhone as a camera is just great fun and that after all is what it’s all about and a nice workout for the creative muscles.

Here is a links to my Projects Gallery where you can view some of my images shot with the iPhone most recent being some captured in Menorca Spain.

Wasp,Turkish Fountain

I have added a new section on the site for personal projects that I find myself doing some for fun like my iPhone Wanderings and some a little more serious.
One of the more serious projects is a collection of images from my visits to the Aegean coast in Turkey where this particular shot was captured.
Actually that is not quite true as this image of a wasp on top the tap of a 18th century Turkish Fountain was actually captured in Kos Greece but hey it’s pretty close !

New Image “Horizon”

This is a new image I have just added to the site titled “Horizon”
Captured in Lyme Regis in Dorset at dusk it shows the famous Cobb curving into the the distance.
The combination of lens choice, camera angle and lighting captures a calm scene with lots of depth.

Gulets. . . Again

I often find it fascinating the things Im drawn to photograph and the fact I sometimes do this almost unconsciously.
In an earlier post I showed some Gulets Boats I had shot this year from my annual trip to the Aegean Coast in Turkey. I have no real passion for boats although I am often drawn to the sea for many of my location images.Maybe the reason for shooting these beautiful boats is the sence of freedom and adventure that they offer those who sail them and possibly a hidden urge to jump aboard myself to experience the places that they can travel.

Here are two more images I had captured of Gulets in the area of Bodrum Turkey over the past several years.
